API tailcone retainers

Postby Digit » Sat Feb 25, 2017 8:42 pm

Howdy,

Can anyone please tell me how far a 54mm mmt sticks out past the end of the airframe to suit an aeropack tailcone retainer? (3.9" dia)

I'm trying to sim one up before I purchase.

Cheers

55mm from rear centering ring. I put the centering ring in 7-8mm from the end of the airframe to leave plenty of space for the fillet and the lip of the tailcone that fits approx. 2mm into the airframe.

Forgot to mention: The 55mm is the actual distance the MMT itself extents out from the centering ring. The male threaded section of the retainer that is epoxied to the MMT extends another 15mm past that.
