Re: Xiaomi Yi - A budget GoPro alternative?

I don't think cheap chinese imitations even count as a GoPro alternative. That's like saying a counterfeit chinese swiss watch is as good as a swiss watch. I have ordered keychain cameras from Hong Kong recently and funnily enough neither of them work now. I would not risk a GoPro as an onboard came...

Re: Jolly Logic Chute Release now available

Thanks Raaahbin, I do happen to fly low diameter BT-60 LPR rockets but have lost so many rockets with a camera in a tree now I am on the verge of giving up on parachute recoveries altogether and doing 100% streamer recovery. On my L1 launch for example my rocket went about 4,800 feet in altitude and...

Re: Jolly Logic Chute Release now available

Hi Blake and others.. I have never used anything like this before as I'm still new to HPR (just got my L1) I would like my rockets even my LPRs to land much closer to launch pad. Does the ejection charge harm this device and do I need to use more wadding than normal to protect it? So its basically a...

Re: New girl on the block needs help

Hi Sari - late message! I have flown those Estes Pro 2 kits you mentioned and they aren't ideal for a first rocket. I first bought the black and gold model rocket package which includes launch pad, launch controller, 56er rocket, rocket wadding and rocket parachute. It costs $99 on this website and ...

Re: Spacex crs-5 launch with planned 1st stage landing

this was incredible the landing I mean. Anyone know how much this mission costed? and what are the implications of the world seeing the first stage make a safe landing? will NASA attempt to do their own manned rocket launches to ISS instead of using Soyuz rockets? Elon Musk has already said the rock...

Re: 29mm to 24mm adaptor

Hi Joeman, I have a Lister designed Aura with this very adapter you speak of. You say you purchased the wrong thing with ausrocketry - what was it? Yes that link is the correct adapter and you will need the HAMR 29mm retainer to go with it. You also need to select the correct reloadable case (1g, 3g...

New B-2 Stealth Bomber HD footage

Hey guys, I found a new HD video just released on youtube by Northrop Grumman the defence company behind the creation of the B-2 Stealth Bomber. The original video had no music so I thought I would add some very suitable music to it and made my own video. I think this is the greatest aircraft ever b...

Re: What could be done better?

okay my advice to the OP.. I have put together a few rocket kits and the instructions were not always that clear. So how about making a rocket and showing us how to do it by video on youtube? videos are much clearer to follow than instructions and given your limited experience in rocketry you probab...

Re: Electronic countdown timer to fire the igniters?

so everything is available through littlebirdelectronics? nice to know they have a forum so I could work on my project and seek advice through that channel/ I might just spend that bit of extra as long as the total cost can be kept within $100 I would be happy. The shipping time from China to Adelai...

Re: Electronic countdown timer to fire the igniters?

thanks Vance this helps a little but this project does seem difficult to do.. The difficult part is buying the right parts.. it would be nice if there was a supplier in Australia who supplied everything I need instead of me having to buy 5-6 different things from all different suppliers in China and...

Re: Electronic countdown timer to fire the igniters?

these devices are actually safer (providing they are wired up correctly) than traditional launch methods. Also if I build this device it is my creation.. not a typical made in China device which everyone seems to rely on these days because they can't manufacture things themselves. Only issue I have ...

Anyone tried using a Piston Launcher to improve altitude?

Hi guys, I came across a device called a piston launcher on apogeerockets.com These can increase the altitude of your rocket by 10% so if your rocket has an expected altitude of 200m add this on it will be 220m approx Here is the video here watch?v=LZBj8CSUalQ#t=30 My question is can they work on hi...

Re: Which keychain camera is best for model rockets?

hey guys I have used 2 different keychain cameras now I had the 808 #20 keychain camera until I lost it. It had 780P video recording, motion sensor, camera mode and weighed about 23g. I really enjoyed this camera. Now I have the more expensive 808 #26 camera which features recording modes only no pi...
