Re: Building a CF Tube

Might be worth grabbing some liquid nitrogen. Gets another 100 degrees cooler than dry ice, just be careful handling it, freezer burns happen quick at -200!

Re: Derek's Level 2 Build

Well, if you include the cost if a 54mm motor then you can take out the cost of the adapter ;) But really the aeropac adaptors are awesome, I've got the set up to 54mm and it's nice to be able to add a few more motor choices to each rocket. Longer motors the next size down are usually cheaper for a ...

Re: Derek's Level 2 Build

Looks good, my only suggestion would be go for a 54mm motor tube, and adapt down for 38. Gives you the option to play with bigger motors, try out tracking electronics etc. Aeropac retainers and adaptors are super easy to use together.

Re: Any experiences with checked in airline luggage - rocket and AV bay

I just took the lower half of my V2 on as carry on with qantas. Be prepared to explain that it’s a model with no fuel or functioning parts on board and you should be fine. Nose cone and an amraam went in checked baggage without a question. Just make sure any LIPOs are removed and taken in carry on. ...

Re: RE: Re: Don't Debate This, Too

I’m not sure I’d feel safe behind that board for a 900psi test. At those pressures it depends a lot on if all air has been bled from the system. I've seen a ~5kg fitting shot across a workshop by under 2000psi that would have likely killed anyone in its path due to trapped air not correctly being b...

Re: Don't Debate This, Too

Bob, I get your enthusiasm for out there design ideas. In fact I can't escape it no matter what mailing list or forum I go to, but it would probably be for the best to make a new thread and leave existing build threads for realistic material and design ideas.

Late in December I picked up one of these: dremel.png Dremel 4000 with 50 piece kit. I don't think I paid anywhere near the $248 that some people are charging. It think it was around $150. It will be interesting to see how the Dremel flex drive shaft stands up to my use. I had a cheapie from eBay t...
