Brisbane Hackerspace

I have been wanting to go check the Brisbane hacker space (https://hsbne.org/) out for a while, but a long standing work appointment conflict on a Tuesday night has prevented me. I'm mostly interested as they have a whole bunch of tools that I don't!! http://wiki.hsbne.org/tools BUT: my Tuesday nigh...

Re: 8th July 2018 Launch

looks like I missed a great one for the kids... great pics too guys.. I was disappointed to miss yet another launch... but... the house move is now finished, the garage is clear enough for a "rocket nook", I have received a big box of parts for my next HPR (my first real dual deploy) and c...

awesome video - not sure if you realised that you accidentally dropped an F-bomb in the video (as it was drifting towards the corn field...) - did your son play this at school?

Re: Shroud Line-less Parachute

I’ve often thought the same thing - only issues I can think of are the tensile strength of the nylon mesh or the reduced effectiveness of the parachute?

Re: 8th April 2018 Launch

Digit took the challenge to get a shot of Aspera-III (29mm MD on a G80) above the rod as it exited, on its way to mach1 at 590ft. My last 240fps slow mo had a total of 4 frames where the rocket was visible once it started moving before citing the camera frame, and that was with my phone in portrait ...

Re: 18th March 2018 Launch

It was an excellent day and watching some of the rocket drift towards the corn, I figured I would point the 6” monster in the opposite direction. With a gentle lift off to a reported 2764’, it landed just on the other side of the river. Thanks to a team of QUT students (in particular one dedicated ...

That is super cool snrkl! Awesome to see a fellow Portal fan!! I never even thought to do a rocket though. Sorry to get sidetracked but here is a full scale (5 feet tall!) light box I built a few years ago. I'm part way through a full scale companion cube too. 8) https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4784...

Re: 18th March 2018 Launch "Flames Smoke & Noise Spectacular"

Looks good snrkl can’t quite make out the writing on the decals. I like the idea of having your checklist written on the rocket, care to share a closeup of the instructions? :D Thanks!! Re: 18th March 2018 Launch "Flames Smoke & Noise Spectacular"

What are people planning on flying? I have two flights planned: 1) L1 cert with my SCR Quake "Mk4 Rocket Propelled Companion Pod" - 66.7 mm to 3100ft on an H135 IMG_8495b.jpg This flight will see me flying two Altimeter 3's - I'm using this flight for relevant scientific testing.. One of m...

Interesting article on 3d Printing

Interesting for us, not just for the fact that 3d printing is useful for custom parts, but for the details on Woodside's partnership with Monash Uni to 3d print a new hybrid rocket motor with ProjectX....
