I once made while back a bubble maker into a rocket. Looked great and flew well but the motor melted the plastic slightly. Not the best material to have against the hot motor. If you can insulate it, no problems.

I'm a firm believer in starting with the kits and even ready to fly ones as that is how you learn the 'ropes".... 8) This gives you then guidance to do your scratch built ones and try to attend a rocket launch as that is one of the best inspirations to get going. :D Most of all, enjoy the journ...
