Re: New AMRS H Impulse Single Motor Altitude Record

Weasel.PNG Thanks everyone. Its all fairly small and light, used just a mylar streamer for recovery. If it wasn't for the Featherweight GPS tracker, in the nose I would never have found it. The nose cone was 3D printed von Karman profile, a phenolic airframe, the fins were 3D printed with a double ...

Re: LEGO Rocketry

I love the Saturn V. Probably my favourite Lego kit. It has pride of place on top of our Lego cabinet. https://i.ibb.co/qrVcGk9/IMG-7102.jpg I am running out of space, but I guess I could make some room for the Lunar Lander. :D I’m having difficulty remembering which Apollo mission Darth Vader flew...

Re: Square Mid Power Rocket

Great to see you trying something different. I’ve built a tardis and also an X Wing, so have a little experience with odd shapes before. In my opinion stability is always a bit of an unknown and you really need to fly it to prove beyond doubt that it will work. If designing from scratch then I woul...

Thanks OTT took a lot to figure out how to do it, was not easy with my very sparse GPS data.

Re: Purple Parrot - MD 38mm

Thanks for the thorough description. I should have known you would need an altimeter driven ejection charge. 14 sec standard motor delay is probably not long enough! I wonder what your actual delay turned out to be? Is there any advantage to using carbon fins over g10 do you think? Apogee occurred ...

Re: Purple Parrot - MD 38mm

Primary charge definitely kicked out the chute on queue, secondary charge went off a second later. Super project. I am planning something similar. But I do not understand the recovery setup fully. I thought I did, until you started talking about secondary charges. Were these controlled by your alti...

Re: Saturn V 1:100 Scale Estes Kit #001969

Nice kit. Good move on the internal launch rod.

If I was building it I’d be tempted to convert it to a cluster and I’d probably convert the display base to be flight ready (or 3D print flight replacements).

Re: what battery are you guys use?

Lipo, similar to what OTT said. These have ver good energy density so there’s a weight saving for the same operating time.
