Flying again
Hi folks, It's obviously been a pretty messy couple of years, especially for anything that involves either getting together with people, moving stuff around or travelling internationally... but I finally got to my first (VRA) launch in over a year just last weekend. It was brilliant! However, after ...

Re: Coming to Serpentine
The short answers are yes and yes! Guests including children are welcome at launches - you just need to be a member if you want to fly your own rockets. I highly recommend coming along to watch a launch, although be warned - it's a slippery slope from low-power to mid-power and on to high-power. I s...

Re: A big thanks to everybody.
Agreed - it was an excellent event. Thanks to everyone for making it so! We're all home and starting to wash the dust out of our clothes. It was great to have the uni flights there, and it seemed to sustain the event well, compared with last time when everyone just seemed a bit blown out by wind and...

Re: Lost rockets page
What a great idea! Here's my lost rocket: IMG_8651 (1).jpg It should include a Jolly Logic Altimeter Three, and a Jolly Logic Chute Release, and have a CTI Pro38 3G motor in it - it had my name and number on a sticker on the body, but I guess it depends how long it spends in the field before it's fo...

Re: Almost all motors on backorder
Makes sense - I can certainly get every rocket flown with the motors I've already got, but for a special event like Thunda I'd prefer to be able to do a few flights per day if I can. Hopefully the container will arrive soon and we'll see what we've got!

Almost all motors on backorder
Hi there, I've just been putting together a shopping cart of motors for Thunda2, and almost every motor I'm looking to buy is listed as "Out of stock - available for backorder". Is there going to be a shipment before Thunda2, or will I need to make do with the motors I've already got? I'm ...

Queensland explosives licence
Hi folks, Back in 2015 we were encouraged to apply for explosives licences if we were going to be launching at Thunda. As it turned out, those licences took forever to process (so hadn't actually been issued by the time the event happened), but also didn't really seem to be necessary (in practice, n...

Dates for 2018
Hi folks! Everything seems to have gone pretty quiet on the MARS front lately, but I gather there was a successful launch last month. Are we still on for this month? Also, I'm starting to put in roster requests for 2018 already - is there a website update in the works with a launch schedule (even a ...

You even managed to make your joke in two parts.
I don't think there's a cure for a sense of humour like that.

Re: Where to buy 2302 igniters in Dandenong/Melbourne?
I tried this today with some green LEDs I bought off eBay. First, the bad news: those LED assemblies are terrible quality. Both broke as soon as I went to plug them in - the force of the spring contact at the base of the socket was enough to cause the contact at the end of the assembly to break and ...

I wish I could have been there! Almost everything I fly would have stayed under that ceiling, and it was perfect timing in all respects except for my recent surgery.
Next month!!

Re: Where to buy 2302 igniters in Dandenong/Melbourne?
It's certainly worth a shot - they're only $1 for two bulbs on eBay, so for that price I'll take a gamble and order both 6V and 12V. Might even go for a different colour if I can find it! Bung a multimeter on it and it should be possible to get a pretty good idea of the expected current before even ...
