Re: Williams "Wildfire" Westernationals 2014

Drews launch looked pretty awesome, as it started out as one rocket and there were two roaring off into the sky, wish i had got a photo of the two parting ways and racing each other!

Re: Williams "Wildfire" Westernationals 2014

Rather than doing a picture dump here (and copy and pasting the urls) pictures are here: http://www.markhphoto.com.au/Rocketry/Williams-Wildfire-2014/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Lighting conditions were challenging for photography (relatively dark, so the exhaust plumes overexpos...

Re: Saturday 10th May Grass Valley Launch

Not going to be able to make it - snowed under with work :( Still havent fixed the wiring on my 3d printed AV bay so the switch turns the electronics on when the pin is removed rather than turning them on when the pin is inserted. Guess i'll be saving the motors for Williams :(

Re: Sunday 27th April Launch Grass Valley

I dug out the only other rocket from the container I could get to ie a small 38mm unit on a G76. Apogee event was pyro from motor and main deployment from my homebrew FC. This sounds like a fantastic excuse for building more rockets! Like I said, whilst you're getting settled in and unpacked (and e...

Re: Sunday 27th April Launch Grass Valley

Today was blowing a huge gale at times, but the launch went on. http://www.markhphoto.com.au/Rocketry/Rocket-Launches/i-XVZSb63/0/L/DSC_8906_dxo-L.jpg At one point the launch tent blew over and away, breaking several connections from the battery to the launch controller. Luckily Drew, Craig and Dave...

Re: Sunday 27th April Launch Grass Valley

Can the 54mm tower be bought along? Not sure if Dave or Drew has it, or if its on site already. I don't need the mods to it so it will take my tomach, I'm ready (1.5 years later) to launch the rocket which I originally started building towers for! It's nothing special or high speed, or even MD - jus...

First launch is coming... anyone want to build over easter?

The first launch of the season is almost upon us. If anyone wants to work on some rockets feel free to drop by my place over Easter, I'm free all weekend. The weather isn't looking too hot, so it should be pretty good. We can... Get your electronics tuned up - I have a full electronics lab, high end...

Re: GoPro HERO3+ Black on Catch of the Day - Less than $400

Grab a Mobius Action Cam... I was pretty surprised at how it performs vs my Hero3 Black. $70 for it, it's smaller, lighter, sharper image without the stupid fisheye (just a small amount of barrel), a bit less dynamic range, much less battery life, but also PC configurable to tune your image. http://...

I was expecting that it would get squashed by the compression of the vacuum, guess not. I'll give it a shot.

Re: Source for Resin Flow Media for Vacuum Infusion in Aus?

Kirkside finally emailed me back:
Hi Mark

Unfortunately we do not have any infusion medium.

Mainly due to people using shade cloth for this purpose.

Re: Source for Resin Flow Media for Vacuum Infusion in Aus?

Thanks Nic, I'm looking more for flow media/mesh than core material at this point, however that stuff looks like it could be really cool for fins and uavs/planes. As a reference for price comparison, one of the first google results I had - easycomposites.co.uk - have the core material you mentioned ...

Source for Resin Flow Media for Vacuum Infusion in Aus?

I've been experimenting with vacuum infusion, however have gotten to the point that I need flow media to be able to proceed any further. Does anyone know a supplier of flow media in Australia - or something that looks like flow media (just woven nylon/polypropylene/polyethylene mesh)? Something like...
