Re: Here come the drones...
That app sounded great but.... app not available yet! https://www.casa.gov.au/media-release/new-drone-app-development-helping-you-fly-safe The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) has teamed up with specialist company, Drone Complier, to develop a smartphone, tablet and web-based app to help drone...

Exam done and passed, thanks for everyone's input, both at QRS and on Forum!
Could not have done without you.
PS code says not to fly while drinking but did not say anything about doing exam during pre-dinner Friday drinks....

Re: L2 Exam
Thanks Crom And perhaps for completeness an extra line the L2 cert requirements underlining this: L2 is J,K and L motors BUT if an L motor, as per AMRS Safety Code, electronically actuated recovery mechanism must be used.... and under L3, state the why electronics must be used. Honestly I thought th...

Re: L2 Exam
Great feedback thank you. yes did miss that reference to Commercial Launch, clause D. And that is the point. no where in the AMR High Power Rocketry Safety Code does it refer to Commercial Launch. At a text search for that term does not reveal it. The AMRS Safe Launch Practices is a condensed versio...

Re: See Through Model Rocket Engine Burning
Dodgy Brothers those guys! Did you see the car drive past in the lane way behind the tripod? Perhaps they were not able to read the NFPA 1122 to maintain safe distances for standard and experimental rocket motors (cut in half is experimental yes?) Perhaps just as interesting is the transparent hybri...

L2 Exam
Getting ready to do L2 Exam now that L1 is completed. So go the study guide and thought I should try to read the documents in AMRS first , try the study questions then look up the answers. Several things: 1. the hybrid motor questions, there seems to be ZERO information in AMRS regarding these motor...

Re: The Magic Pre-Launch Check List
Happy to help!
I would be concerned that many L3 and above have forgotten more than I know!
But I am sure there are a number of checklists out there that your various contacts could contribute as starting material.
With guidance, I am happy to bring something to you for consideration.

Re: The Magic Pre-Launch Check List
Thank you. Yes, google was already my friend BUT Google might be a better fried to you Drew! But I was hoping that the Australian Rocketry forum was a better friend than Google. The BEST check list I thought would be in our (perhaps overly) risk adverse and well (perhaps over) SOP/safety conscious A...

The Magic Pre-Launch Check List
I was wondering if there is a Magic Pre-Launch Check List out there somewhere. Yes, can develop my own but why re-invent the wheel. It seems to me if everyone used a "good" and perhaps AMRS approved check list for pre-launch check, that model rocketry can only be safer. It might be prudent...

Open Rocket - How can I change the Sim Report?
Open Rocket is the great accelerator. and helps to prove to the RSO that you know what you are doing! BUT when you print the report to bring the design and flight data to launch day, there is one thing missing. The title of the report is always "ROCKET" It would be great if the Title could...

How NOT to launch a Rocket - watch orientation of motor retainer clips
We were launching cluster rocket, 3X D12s. All looked good until .... Before shot of rocket on the rail was for the records but after the fact showed the issue: the motor retainer clip "locked" on to the rail rocket support screw. And that was enough to hold the rocket on the pad! IMG_7421...
