Has anyone heard of plans to build a new spaceport?
The cosmodrome is proposed to be built near the town of Vape on the Cape York Peninsula. This is a place quite remote from civilization in the north of the country. And it is closest to the equator in Australia, which is convenient for orbital launches.
Do you think it will be built by 2023?

Of course, you haven't heard of such a place. Autocorrect worked for me.
I mean Weipa.
And the main question was whether there are plans for the construction of a new cosmodrome.
Or is it just some random weird rumour?

Would they put it near Weipa? That doesn't make sense as flying East puts you over land. I could imagine something on the East side of the peninsula working well. I will keep my ear to the ground...

BTW, stay South of the Wenlock river if you need to fly during the wet season

Therefore, I ask. This is a strange choice. Although, for one well-known company, bad weather does not prevent in any way from launching rockets every week.
But I've only seen this on one forum.
I wonder if new cosmodromes will be built at all? Or will new space companies use mobile spaceports?

There are plenty of rumours going around and there is a lot of merit in that area.

The reality of anything in QLD is it will be driven by industry or more likely a single entity as QGov are still trying to find their feet with space activities.

@TomJo, how about an intro about yourself as these are the only posts you have made...
