Unusual mission patch

Hi All,

Just wondered if anybody is able to shed any light on this patch? I found it on ebay, but searching the net I haven't been able to find any info on it. I know Aussie astronaut Andy Thomas flew on Endeavour, but this isn't the patch for that mission.

Any ideas?

Faster then Light's (FTL's) Endeavour? Not certain, but it isn't a NASA patch, related to Andy Thomas.
Many years ago the great British explorer George Mallory, who was to die on Mount Everest, was asked why did he want to climb it. He said, "Because it is there."

Unless FTL stands for something else and they were just trying to be cute. But I cannot find out anything about such a mission. FYI the Australia bit may not be related to an Astronaut. Endeavour is named after the ship the Endeavour sailed by captain Cook, also if it was a real mission then perhaps there was some ground evolvement. But as far as I can tell it's not legit.

Matt, I had wondered if there was potentially a link with the replica of Cook's ship Endeavour, that they have at the Maritime Museum in Sydney. I know when I toured the ship that they said that there was a piece of timber used in it's construction that had been orbited on the Endeavour Shuttle.

Crom, thanks for the link. I'll do a bit more digging based on that info. Having learned from David B and Marty, however that FTL is a scifi reference to Faster Than Light travel, I'm guessing that it is related to some kind of scifi thing.

They sound like they might be souvenirs from the shuttle replica cinema. It would actually make sense that after they went bust that someone would try and sell them off.
