Using an easy mini or eggtimer quark altimeter and the GPS tracker that I made from Vances design. It will be tight but I'll get it in there.

New tip for the MD24 nose cone. Weighs about 10 grams which is exactly the weight I needed to put at the tip. Not bad for chucking it up in the drill (AKA the Vance Lathe) and grinding to shape with the angle grinder and some flat files

Here is the finished nose cone. The tip is epoxied in place, the bulkplate/end cap has a hole in it that locks down with a nut and a small bit of a U bolt with the thread poking out the base of the shoulder.

I need to make a thin sled for the AV bay or zip tie the Atlus Metrum easy mini and the 915mhz 3DR radio together and then have the batteries bellow, I have some 1mm CF from hobby king that I would normally use but with the radio and GPS I wasnt sure if it would be a good idea :?: if someone can give me a yes or no that would be a great help. Other than that its done. Just going to make a new base for the launch tower and its good to launch this Sunday weather permitting.

If you could put the altimeter on one side of the carbon and the radio on the other it will help make sure that the radio can't interfere with the altimeter.
In theory they shouldn't anyway but a bit of shielding between them wouldn't hurt

Would a metal washer work as a shield?

a metal bulkhead with the antenna connector poking through it should work as a ground plane increasing the effectiveness of the antenna. Ideally for 915MHz it should be a lot larger but anything should be better than nothing.
Even gluing a layer of aluminium foil to a bulkhead should in theory increase shielding and performance from the radio

Cool, I'll have a play around with it once the sled is done and see what I can come up with.. it wont be pretty, but it will work :)

Also got the new launch tower made that has a bit more room and will also take a MD29, just need to WD40 the rods, install a couple of bits of aluminium as blast deflectors and its good to go for this coming Sundays launch :D
