Hello all, well, it's about that time to start thinking about what I will be flying at ARTDU2018, seems like a long time away right, "WRONG", given I have to build a launcher, GSE, build and test the rocket, it's not really that far off.
It took me all of 5 seconds to decide on a Full Scale 1:1 Patriot Missile (PAC-1 variant) (actuality it's a 102% upscale ) , the decision was easy given that my L2 & L3 were flown on Patriots.
She will be just over 16" in dia and 19' (5,800mm) in length, weighing in @ 90 kgs empty, up to around 150 kgs in the 5 x 98mm cluster configuration (final sims will be performed post air frame tube construction) ... At this time I plan on having 2 fin frame configurations, 1 being a 5 x 98mm cluster and the other being a central 1 x 152 + 4 x 75mm cluster configuration, (maybe a third, let's wait and see)...
Still deciding on the final missile configuration, 3 tube DD (as per my half scale), or 2 tube DD (though one opening).
Not just a "Pie in the Sky" all talk no show post (Blake, how about a launch it, eat it event, let's get a few pie manufactures on board), but a true Pipe Dream (Ezy Tube pipe that is)... The Mandrel will be 404 mm dia, 3.4 mm thick, 4 meters long (I might cut this down to 3 meters due to some damage to the tube) concrete form work tube from EzyTube.

Also received the epoxy, 20 kgs of resin and 6 kgs of hardener, 62 meters of 295 gsm FG and 4 sheets of 2,240 mm x 1,220 mm M80 perforated 3 mm corecell (thanks CG Composites).

Also managed to source a 28 ft Man-Rated Parachute from Aerocon Systems ...
So to sum up, still a long, long, long way off, but at least I have made a start, posting here should give me the drive to completed the build...
I would at this point like to thank Nic, a lot of this build will be based on his build tecnnics.
See you all at THUNDA 2018
