It flies!!!!! GPS put me within a couple of metres of the landing point.
I had to replace the altimeter because the one I had was playing up, and I'm glad I did. It was perfect flying conditions at Cedar Grove today.

This was on a CTI I120, as a shakedown flight in preparation for L2 cert. Unfortunately it will exceed the ceiling at Cedar Grove with J motor on board, but I am looking forward to giving it a bit more mojo next time we launch at Westmar. A J motor should go transonic, and K motor will really get things moving. I have found that I'm a bit tight for space for the parachutes, because the shock cord takes up a lot of space. When I change to the 6 grain case, I might need to extend the airframe by about 100mm to give myself some extra space.

TBA: Our Jimboomba launch date is set for 11 September, expect the Westmar launch to be a week or two after then...

Hi all,

The night before the last launch I filmed myself assembling Mohammed Ali, ready for the maiden flight. Its pretty amateur, and a bit long at 18 minutes, but I did it because a number of my non rocketeering friends are showing lots of interest.

So at the risk of demonstrating how shoddy my workshop and movie making skills are.......

Cam,
Watched most of the video until my iPad battery ran out to me:
1. I thought your chute packing appeared to be a bit tight
2. I tie the chute protectors a bit further away from your lines. I've seen the chute protector wrap around the lines and restrict the opening of the chute somewhat.

Thanks Matt, I'll take that on board. One reason I was packing so tight was that I didn't really have enough room. I'm going to extend the airframe a bit so there will be more room, especially when I go to a 6 grain case! Hopefully that will free up the space and I can be more boxers than briefs, if you know what I mean.
