The weather forecast is for mostly sunny skies and light winds. Bring on Sunday.

The rocket looks great Lachlan - looking forward to 7 spurts of flame heading skyward.

See you at the launch.

A successful maiden flight for Buckshot! 8)
I also took the opportunity to film my first launch and also try my hand for the first time at video editing, here is the result:

Also thanks to Matt for compiling this video for me:

Thanks to everyone that assisted me with advice for this build.

I didn't realise some people could not view embedded videos, I'll be sure to include a link too from now on.

For the lead in the nose cone, where did you get the lead from and what was the density of that lead?

Hi there mate, the lead was pilfered from my shotgun reloading supplies, it is #4 Winchester super hard chilled shot. As for the density there's 5 pellets to the gram, unless you were referring to a metallurgical density, in which case I have no idea! Hope this helps.

A beautiful second and final flight for Buckshot today at the QRS October Skies launch. All seven motors ignited well resulting in a perfectly straight 1000 odd foot smoke column, followed by a 'generous' amount of ejection charges right at apogee. The military surplus X-form 'chute bringing it down within 50 meters of the pad.

Flash pan ignition has proven to be super reliable for me, however it is extremely hard on the rocket. For anyone interested here is a picture off the collateral damage after just two launches.

This has been a very fun build and two launches, I've learned heaps, thanks to all who helped.

Buckshot will spend the rest of her days retired and on display in my collection now. :)

Do you think a coating of epoxy or superglue on the motor mounts would help much with longevity?

A very good looking rocket, congratulations.

I saw your first flight and it looked great!
Congratulations on the flight.

You can use fishing gear ("sinkers"). They can be hammered flat like a pancake if you're short on space.
Density of lead is 11325 kg/m^3
Encapsulate the lead if you can.

Possibly OTT, that would be a good experiment I might conduct on the rear of some dummy rockets to test if different treatments might help.

It was a great flight. I got a sequence of about 12 shots at liftoff I think if you're interested.

I say, there appears to be a rather small low lying cloud on the range
