Ok so the X Wing was flown again for the 3rd time at the QRS 10th Anniversary Open Day Launch last Sunday.

This time it flew with a cluster of 5 SCR motors, a central C6-5 with 4 outboard B6-4.
That's the equivalent of a 28E14 with a peak thrust of 56N resulting in about 18Gs of acceleration.
Total weight came to 310g with the nose weight adjusted for a 1.05 stability margin.
All 5 motors light at launch and again it flew extremely straight even with a bit of wind. Since adding the outboard motors I've not seen it arch over at apogee like it did in the first flight, I'm beginning to think that OR is conservative in its estimate of CP for tube fins. I'd like to hear people's thoughts on this.
Fairly certain the parachute came out very close to apogee, only issue with the flight was that there was not enough recovery wadding and the chute stuck together resulting in something approximating a 4 inch chute  Some fin and nose damage was sustained during landing.

Enjoy the video.

Thinking I'll bring the stability margin back to 1.02 - 1.03 for the next flight see if I cannot get it to arch so its horizontal when the outboard motor ejection changes fire.

Not sure where the year has gone. Anyway here is the X Wing in full decals.
Planning another flight on a Sunday for QRS Christmas launch, should be good.

Nice rocket. Nice flight. You have to be happy with that Mat!

Yeah it’s pretty sweet, pictures like that are the icing on the cake OTT.

Unfortunately this time it was coming back down when the ejection charges went off and shredded the chute. Fortunately it has a pretty decent set of wings so did an impromptu high speed glide-landing. Will fly again sometime, but right now I’m trying to come to grips with the monster upscale I’ve started. Will post some pictures shortly. I should also review my video, not sure you’ll see much on the landing though.
