Bolts loose inside motor tube...

Postby markf74 » Sun Feb 14, 2021 9:13 pm

Got a problem I would love some advice inImage

I was finishing of my first electronics bays for the LOC 835, when I noticed the u-bolt was loose and actually came of the front motor tube ring , and now I've got a couple of nuts and washers rattling around inside the motor tube where i can get at it. my first instinct is to cut an access hole just behind the front ring. Any issues , better ideas?

I'd be tempted to drill a hole in the rear centering ring and patch with epoxy rather than mess with the body tube.... Replace the ubolt with an eye bolt... When you install ubolts add a drop of epoxy to the nuts...

That's is a good option , alas this has 3 motor tube rings and the central ring is only about 10cm from the rear . Still better to drill through both rings?

My very simple solution is to just leave them there. Other than rattling when you shake the rocket what harm can they do?

You'll probably do a lot more damage trying to get them out.
