dam straight

Postby Lister » Thu Dec 17, 2015 11:38 pm

Here is an easy.. effective way to get a straight line on woven cloth that Jase showed me.. trying to explain it just doesnt work so here are some pics.

first you goto an edge of the cloth and find a thread at the spot you want the line (if it has stitching up the sides just pull a thread out or cut the stitching) and pull it out of the cloth.. for a fine weave like this cloth its tricky but doable.

If your cloth has stitching on the sides do the following step.. otherwise skip to the next one.

Grab the loose thread and grab the other side of the cloth about where the other end of the thread is.. give it a slight tug and it should move the tow so you can see a line..

then grab the loose thread and pull it all the way through.. if its a fine weave it pays to take out a couple so you can cut it without cutting the other threads in the cloth.

Picked up the same tip in a John Coker video ( https://youtu.be/7l4ugREZ6eM?t=614 ) works great!

Adam, here is my Extremely RAG FG station.. 2 old fruit crates with a bit of floor board attached to hold the conduit, each crate has a 5kg weight in it so they dont move and the cloth can sit either on a roll behind the tube holding notch.. or can be used straight off the big rolls I have on a larger stand.

Dude - I always insert a caveat when showing people stuff, it goes like this "...but NEVER listen to me..."

I learnt it of a local boat builder I used to buy cloth off...
