Mid Power Launch rail

Postby Legendontour » Sun Aug 02, 2020 1:33 pm

With hot demand for the 1010 rails at recent launches and a couple of my mid power rockets getting a bit sideways off the low power rods, I’ve come up with a compromise.

Copying plans from TRF, I’ve constructed a metric rail launch tower that utilises mini buttons I purchased from rail buttons.com

It’s 1500mm long and is secured to a Triton Multi-Stand (similar I believe to a Rockwell Jaw Stand). I’m off to Bunnings this arvo to but some sheet metal to add a blast deflector.

Pending approval from the RSO and LCO, I plan to use it next week (assuming Logan isn’t in Covid Lockdown!!) for a couple of Mid Power builds.

I got it from 80/20 in Sydney. It wasn’t super cheap by the time I got it couriered, but I had no success finding it locally.

Hi Legend...

Is this the same type of rail from 80/20 in Sydney? I've got a quote from them to supply and ship a 2m section for $70 incl shipping & GST.

Sounds about right. I paid about $80 for 1.5m each of 1010 and 2020. It would have been nice to go longer but that’s what fits in my roof box!

Thanks. I've sent an email to Ullrich in Banyo to see if this is something they can provide too.

That’s the one. For reference to anyone looking for rail, don’t try the ones from RS Australia. One is too loose and the standard buttons fall out. The other that looks close, is not deep enough in the slot and the screw heads that hold buttons on bind. At least the postage was free
