Do you think it will help them decide on my X Wing?

Hasn't the design flown before and this is an upscale version???

Bring the sim's along if you can, just to be safe...

Looking forward to seeing it fly! And RSOing it...

Launch Report

Absolutely beautiful day, mild temp and little wind. A total of 34 launches for the morning, 14 low power, 10 mid power and 12 high power. It must have been the month for maiden flights with 14 flights, over a third of the total, most successful, some not. A good turnout of spectators as well with the majority of flights being launched by visiting children (potential future members?)

Biggest motor of the day was an I280 launched by a visitor Brad from NSW Rocketry in his rocket "Apparently".

Most launches were from the Hutton family team who had 6 flights ranging from D12 to a I218. Greg Traise, Brenden Hawkin and Mark Fehringer also had multiple launches.

Most unusual flight would have to go to Matthew Niejalke who launched an up-scaled "X-Wing" (Big!!!!!) on a G115, it was a nice stable flight but unfortunately suffered an early deployment.

Yet another great day of rocketry.

Totally agree what a fantastic day at QRS Launch today. Caught up with a quite number of Rocketeers and met some new ones. Got to meet Ari who provided some sage advice on my launch fails , which ended up being an igniter issue! Thanks Ari. There were some great flights. I think I now hold the record for most attempted launches without success. :) Favourite time for me , but probably not the rocketeer was the bull puppy CATO , really sorry for the launch , but super spectacular!! and hardly anyone got that on film I believe. Big thanks to the RSOs and LCO, and can't wait to do it all again next month. Better start thinking on my next project.....

According to the altimeter, the problem was “pointy end down”, when I get some time I’ll upload details to the build page. If anyone has footage of the deployment I’d really like to see it.

Thanks everyone for accomodating me. Was a great day of flying.

Pity my last flight ended in a R.U.D. Need to work on my fins and fillets to push the engines. Got something to aim for next time.

Can’t wait to come fly again with you. Maybe later this year. Will definitely come to the next WestMar launch. Will keep my eyes peeled.

Thanks again to everyone for an amazing day

Brad

Yep Mark, it does suck when a brand new rocket self destructs. Did get a couple of photos, the first shows the nose cone being blown off even before the rocket clears the rail. The second shows it going unstable trying to drag the nose cone with it's 200 grams of lead shot behind it and the large quantity of smoke coming out the wrong end. Didn't get any of the subsequent flames but fiberglass does burn if it gets hot enough.

It was about time for me to make it to the launch and what a great club we have right from the start. :D

Was good to meet you also Mark and it just sucks when you have to try that many times but eventually you got there. :)

Was also great to see Karl at our launch from Victoria.

Awesome crowd and it shows people miss our launches.

Let hope in October we can hold our annual Open Day launch.

Great to have met all of you guys finally. 8)
