Looks like there will be some rain over the Brisbane area on the weekend. The forecast is for partly cloudy conditions at Westmar, so let's hope that improves. We can, of course still launch under any clouds and in between cloud banks, but will have to keep a closer eye on it.
The current models are also showing wind patterns different from the historic data (the week's average from last year), probably due to that L north of NZ causing the rain further east of Westmar. From what I can currently make out (projections 4 days out!) is that drift patterns for sub-30,000' flights seem to be towards NNW and NW for flights above 30,000'. Wind speeds are lower than average too.
Will keep you posted, but I suspect we'll just need to re-run all the Drift Pattern Analyses on Friday night when we have better info and then make a judgement call on where those flights launch from. We don't want anyone planting their rocket in that huge retention dam approx 4km to the NE of LA1
