Postby fud pucker » Sun Mar 27, 2016 7:49 pm

LAUNCH INVITATION

The Queensland Rocketry Society Inc (QRS) would like to invite all interested people and members of the Australian rocketry community to our April launch. This launch is a 2 day event to be held at our Westmar launch site. This site is private farm land with no facilities so it is necessary to be self sufficient including bringing your own water.

LAUNCH DETAILS

Date: Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th April.
Range Open: 0800.
Range Closed: 1700.
Ceiling: 120,000ft AGL. (A NOTAM will be posted with Air Services Brisbane office).

DIRECTIONS

Take Bridge St out of Toowoomba to Dalby, at Dalby turn left onto the Moonie/St George Rd. At the Westmar Roadhouse, turn right and follow the road for approx 18km to the property called "Enarra" on the right.

SPECIAL NOTICES FOR THE DAY

* Members are asked to sign in at the RSO table at 8:00am.
* If your membership is not current on the day, you will not be able to launch.
* HPR rocketeers will need to provide evidence of a current QLD explosives licence.
* If launching an unproven design, either scratch built or a modified kit, bring a copy of your sim so the RSO can verify the stability/safety of your rocket.

AMRS CERTIFICATION FLIGHTS

This launch is AMRS sanctioned and AMRS certification flights for Level 1 & 2 will be conducted. Remember to make arrangements with the AMRS Certification Officer prior to the launch day. AMRS members from across Australia who wish to attempt certification are welcome to attend for this purpose.

See you there.

Hope to see you there, Sumo! Will be a good one. I know of at least 3 flights that hope to go above 40k' (2 of which will hopefully make it to 50k') and there's a whole lot of new equipment being tested. We also have some visitors from overseas.

See you there!

Hi Jeff,

I don't have an Etrix, but if you have a smartphone, I can recommend an app called JustGPS. It allows you to put in the coordinates, and it gives you a direction and a distance. If you have a WiFi/4G connection, it also allows you to open a map.

+1 for motion X well worth the money. Plus you can save maps on your phone too which is handy.
