Looking at some lead shot for some nose cone wieght - All the suppliers I can find online sell it in ~10kg buckets - probably about 9.5kgs more than I think I could use for all the things I currently have planned for the next 12 months...
Does anyone have a bead on a Brisbane supplier that might do quantities less than 10kgs, or perhaps someone at QRS has already shelled out for a 10kg bucket and is happy to sell me a smaller quantity?
Anyone local with lead shot?

Check out a fishing store for sinkers. Think my last lot came from Big W.

Didn’t even think of that!
I was planning on doing some epoxy slurry...
I’ll check it out... I do need it to be as small as possible, first task is 24g in an extended 24mm nose cone that I also want to put an eggfinder mini and a n altimeter in - I’ll check out some small split shot maybe...

BCF. They'll have small enough sinkers......
Re: Anyone local with lead shot?
I’ve got about 6kg sitting here. Used it many projects including 18mm NCs. I’ll send you a couple hundred grams

Cool. Much appreciated. One of these days you’re actually gonna tell me what beer you drink...
Otherwise - I’ll have to tease it out of you by just turning up with the grossest beer I can think of... I’ve got a US trip coming up - maybe some bud light? I saw a lovely alcohol free beer in the UK I’m sure I could source...

Re: Anyone local with lead shot?
Back in late 2015 I bought some lead shot for $5.50 per Kg from Hitech Radiators. They're located at 166 Boniface Street, Archerfield. They don't usually have lead shot on-hand in the shop but they're happy to package-up any quantity given a couple of days notice. The guy to talk with is named Glen (call him on 0412 336 277). They sell quite a bit of shot for people making their own lead weights for diving.

I got some in different sizes from a fishin store just north of Southport. BCF did not have the range of smaller sizes - at least online.
Yes, we used a slurry of exposure and lead shot to ensure the mass stayed put and safe during launch event . But that was for a D motor.
I guess it would be similar for HP rocketry but perhaps for extreme acceration motors, worth asking around to see if any more was done by others.
Definatley do not want a stability mass to change position at launch!!
So the lead shot I got are these:
Juro Oz Pro Tackle “Soft SPlit Shot” - has 7 small shot sizes to dial out $14
STM Tackle Split Shot 120g - similar
THere are a few online shops as well to check out. But if you know very little about lead shot, ensuring you get the shape you want is a bit hard.
Hence that is why I wanted to see it.
BUT - this in bulk and sold by AusRocktry would like be cheaper and easier than going fishing. THen we could get what we need when we need it.

Most of the research I have done indicates that best practice for lead shot epoxy slurry in nose cones, a cross bar of dowel drilled through the walls of the nose cone before pouring the slurry around it is a sure fire way to ensure it stays put, as well as mechanical preparation of the internal nose cone surface to encourage adhesion...
My immediate need is for small rockets (I'm working on a 24mm MD airframe I can fly D-F for altitude) , but as a general rule, I will likely do the same cross bar for NC mass retention, albeit with disposable bamboo chopsticks (we get great ones from a local thai place...) they are light, and super easy to work...

if you are leaving it in there, 2 part foam is your friend

There is actually plenty of stock, just need to update site with new product

How well does the foam adhere to the inside of plastic or polystyrene nose cones?

It pretty much sticks to anything. As with most things, you should rough up the surface for a better bond. I have recently had to make a bunch of molds and had to use a mold release so it would stick to the plastic bottle it was being set in.
