I Need a Nosecone!

Postby aardman » Fri Jan 18, 2019 12:22 pm

Hi guys,

Bryan here from UQ Space. I'm looking for a 98 mm nosecone pretty urgently, we need one for the UQ rocket club. We probably need to make a few modifications on it so I'm willing to buy it off someone. Hopefully someone out there has something that we can use, preferably fiberglass.

Thanks in advance!

Blake is unabe to source you one?

I do have an untouched 98 mm fibreglass nosecone lying around at home I was planning to use for a future project...

What is your expected flight envelope? Max velocity?
I have a 3D printed design that I personally would fly up to low supersonic (<M1.4) if printed in ABS.

Details here: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5019
I have probably around two dozen flights on it so far.

I can send you the SolidWorks files if it is useful.

Best to actually call Blake, the inventory is not always accurate.

Thanks for your reply’s everyone.
That 3D printer nosecone looks awesome, we probably wouldn’t use it straight away as this flight is for a certification attempt, and we don’t want to go to far away from the norm. But I’d be really interested in looking at the CAD if you don’t mind sharing.

We’ve had a chat to Blake, and he doesn’t have anything in stock at the moment, would have definitely gone with that option if it was a possibility.
