1st April Mullaley HPR Launch Photos

Postby air.command » Thu Apr 20, 2017 8:56 pm

Here are some photos from the last NSWRA launch at Mullaley. We had a reasonable turnout with quite good weather, although a little windy it wasn't too bad. The crops were nice and short so easy to find rockets. I was there only on the Saturday so these pictures are from that day, though apparently Sunday was a little more windy and so less rockets were flown.

Lots of space to land rockets:

David Head's "Warlock" on a J335. I was surprised how high this rocket went for being so wide.

Kryten's "Gambit" on a H148

Why not take the igniter wire with you for later re-use?

David's "Arcas" on H120

Scott's "Jupiter C" on a G68. This is a very detailed scale model. It looks great close up.

We flew this water rocket a couple of times:

Andrew's "R8 Firebird" that he flew on J335. It was a great flight but unfortunately only the drogue deployed. The rocket landed in the cotton field without damage I believe.

Here is a good lesson in painting rockets a nice bright colour. Can you spot it in the image below? Those are 3 people looking for it.

Tim's "CWeasel" on a G64. He pulled a "Blake" on this one and finished final coat of paint a few minutes before launch.

Bingo :D It was impossible to see the black rocket in the shadows on a small phone screen controlling the drone. Had it been a brighter colour it would have been much easier to locate.
