NSWRA - Mullaley Launch Photos - 6th/7th April 2019

Postby Aquaman33 » Tue Apr 09, 2019 7:55 am

Members of New South Wales Rocketry Association enjoyed a great launch weekend at Mullaley.

A huge thank you to everyone that helped with set up, RSOing, LCOing, packing away and anything else. Special mention to David C, Andrew and David H who worked hard all weekend.

Also another special mention to the land owners who graciously let us use their farm.

I was a bit busy with my own launches, so apologies for not getting photos of all the rockets.

David B's half scale Patriot was once again the highlight.

Cheers,

Derek

Awesome photos Derek! Thanks for posting. Looks like plenty of AP burned on the day(s). Congratulations on your L1flight. :) Are the face shields a requirement put on the students by the university?

Thanks George.

As you know photographing rockets is a bit of a lottery.....especially when they have short burn motors. So I was glad to capture a few of them.

Plenty of AP burned, but not enough water rockets!

Not exactly sure where the requirement for the face shields came from. Perhaps they did their own risk assessment. Personally I was glad to see them taking sensible precautions with black powder......and it made a good photo. :D

Looks like they are trying for an elite riot squad.

Great photos and looks like it was a great launch!

I have seen a number of university groups create risk assessments with limited knowledge of rockets and how the club events work, as such there appears to be an overzealous approach to PPE.

The university team has face shields for when handling any energetics. They have them in preference to safety glasses. I am not going to disparage my team if they are keeping themselves safe. Good work everyone :) .

It was indeed a great weekend!
Unfortunately no launch pics, I was bit busy.
