Anzac Day weekend HPR launch

Postby Kryten » Mon Mar 28, 2016 10:04 am

The NSW Rocketry Association Inc (NSWRA) cordially extends an invitation to all AMRS members to attend a launch weekend at our HPR site at Mullaley, 330km NW of Sydney, on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th April (Anzac Day holiday weekend).
Please see the NSWRA website for the approximate location: http://www.nswrocketry.org.au/PublicPag ... l#mullaley

The CASA instrument permits HPR launches up to 8,000ft AGL.

AMRS members wishing to attempt L1 and L2 certifications can be accommodated; but please confirm this with the certifying officer beforehand.

The range will be open from 09:00 to 17:00 on Saturday and from 08:00 to 17:00 on Sunday (actual closure time may be earlier, depending on who still wants to launch). Note: certification attempts will not be possible after noon on Sunday.

In accordance with our agreement with the landowner, there is a restriction on the number of people that can attend, so this invitation is on a “first come, first served” basis.
If you are planning on attending, or just want some more information, please send us an email so we can keep track of numbers: nswra@nswrocketry.org.au

There's plenty of accommodation of different standards in Gunnedah.
A number of members have already booked, but I'm not sure which pub/motel.
I created a short list some time ago that I can re-send.
David, I'll send you an email

Hi David,
I normally stay in http://www.gunnedahlodgemotel.com.au/ It's quite a nice motel with free wifi, and off the main road so it is fairly quiet at night, but you are still close to shops. There are plenty to choose from in town as Kryten said.

Hi all, after trying to rearrange my schedules, unfortunately I am not going to be able to make it. I was looking forward to the trip, but timing is just wrong this month.

In saying that, if anyone would like motors, I will be meeting with some of the NSW folk at Westmar this weekend and can pass them on for FREE delivery to Mullaley. If you would like to take up this offer, then please have an order placed (www.ausrocketry.com.au) by no later than midday this Thursday 07/04/16 so it can be packed ready for delivery on Friday.

Hi George & thanks, accommodation booked, I have managed to rearrange my work schedule in an effort to better suit / assist those wishing to certify. I will now be arriving early afternoon Friday the 22nd and thus will be at the range from 9am Saturday.

Here are some photos from the Anzac Day weekend launch. It was a BIT windy on both days but still a number of great flights were flown. Photos are mostly by Andrew Eltobaji and Anthony Place. Congratulations to Kevin Burchell on his successful L1 and also to David Head on his successful L2 certification. Well done guys! Unfortuatelly Jeff Marshall just missed out on his L2, but I am sure he'll be back with another attempt.

And a big thank you to CATO for being the certifying officer on the weekend.
Hopefully it won't be quite as windy for the next one.
