Hi Troy!
Great videos :)

I have one of my black cluster going up - I'll post that in the next day or so :)

I only videoed the one flight - I was having too much fun to remember videoing anything else ;)

been there all too often [sigh] I've given up believing I can fly and video record everything at a launch.

As an alternative to the wetlands, we may try flying at the police paddocs a little futher along Stud Road (away from Dandenong). Keep your eyes on the forum and you'll hear about that.

Hey Krusty
what's the deal with the police paddocks - are you currently negotiating?
Is it a larger area than the wetlands?

I've flown there twice with Matt so far and it's a great field. Parking is 5 meters from launch site :D on an un-used cricket pitch. There's a big concrete strip in the middle that would be ideal (and fire-safe) for launch pads.

The land is council owned - as is the wetlands.

The first day we went, I popped into the cricket club-house and asked if they minded if we flew there, they said go for it.

The area is probably similar. Stud road is much closer, but no freeway. It's in a bit of a valley and the wind seems less than surrounding areas. No big lakes either :) The layout of the area is as follows:

50 - 100m to the west - Stud Road and beyond that is a golf course)

To the north there's a grassed cricket pitch and, beyond that is the club-house. Behind the club-house is a bit of a hill (good for catching stray rockets that way)

To the east is a big paddoc - prob 500m accross, then a hill.

And to the south is paddocs as far as you can see.

Here's a link to the google map - launching from the lower oval:

Of course - it could be bad form to launch while they're actually playing cricket ;)

What do you think??

I like it, but before we change our 'official' launch site. we need to find out how often cricket (or other sports) are played there.

Sounds like we need to check it out...

Sundays may be less problematic from the sporting perspective, than
Saturdays - I guess we could drop in and ask them for a fixture ?

Tim

(Edit) I have just looked on Google maps - looks a good space - maybe a bit bigger then wetlands and just up the road. Great without the lake or the freeway to worry about
