The following is base on info from the ARA and TRA Victoria.

PLEASE NOTE - It is illegal to fly AP motors over 62.5g

in Victoria and no exemptions or permits are in place.

Please contact worksafe for more information.

HPR Hybrid motors are legal to fly in Victoria. :D

TRA members can cert L1 and L2 using Hybrids until such time that this is sorted out.

I'm Sure you guys will sort something out pretty quick, If other states have different regs I cant see why Vic should have any problems amending theirs . It appears to me that maybe the regs are behind the times and the MMRG and the Vic TRA representatives need to talk to the authorities . No big deal, Why should they deny you. These sort of misunderstandings and misinterpretations happen all the time with all sorts of depts, eg Police, centerlink, work safe. rspca, dola, calm(wa) and on and on. A rocket club or group is the least of their problems and they will proberly want to help you out quick too.

To emphasize my point , I take native forna and ferals for an income. To amend my license to maybe sell skins or process, transport or deal, it's usually just a phone call.

The Australian Rocketry Association and Tripoli Australia as of tonight have agreed to work together to obtain an outcome for both our clubs.

This will not be an easy process as we will be attempting to change the regulations and the Authorisation of motors which does come with a cost.

For more information contact your local ARA Section Head or TRA Prefect.

This will be a long process unfortunately but both clubs are in this until a workable solution is at hand.

All those who need to know will be updated as updates become available.

Will the recent re-classification of AP motors (not "explosives") make approvals easier?

Hi, Kryten

after reading the worksafe reg's this all I can find on motors.

106 Definitions

Page 7 and 8

general use fireworks means toy fireworks which
contain minute quantities of pyrotechnic
substance (such as toy pistol caps, party
poppers and snaps for bon-bon crackers),
sparklers, model rocket motors (containing
no more than 62·5 grams of propellant), and
any other fireworks authorized and approved
as a general use firework;

I'm not saying that is all of the reg's, but this all i can find with the "model rocket motor"

it is still class as ""toy firework"" (that was back in 1970's) so the reg's have not been update.

:?

yes with the ruling in US re-classification of AP motors will maybe help us here in vic and the rest of Australia, but seeing that in vic, no body looked into this for sum time.

this is going to make the work of sorting this out along process.

have to redefine what a model rocket motor is. (that old chestnut of "" firework "" )

prove that AP is not explosives. (the US ruling may help ) to worksafe.

and prove that clubs in vic can self regulate the use of AP motor that's were the clubs in Australia can help us in showing that it works.

we all have to deal with government departments and having support will show that if they ( NSWRA can do it), the clubs vic can.
(bet I get sum flack for saying that)

all this can be fix.
