This is Glen's rocket (I have forgotten the name) on a J350 which was an excellent flight! He flew this combination twice today.

I'd say it's a PML Endeavor

Congrats to everyone with their certification flights! Well done.

Sorry we couldn't make it but my daughter and myself have spent all four days this Easter with gastro... :(

Thanks also for the great pics posted to keep everyone informed.

First off, I finally built my LOC V2...I started the build last Saturday and completed painting it similar to 1943 camo on Friday. Today I launched it on a H180W as my Level 1 Cert flight. This happened to be the first high power APCP launch at Serpentine under the new regs. A bit of rod whip but otherwise a successful flight. David Boyd thought it good enough for certification, and that is all that mattered anyway!

Thanks everyone, but congratulations must also go to Peter for his L1 success!!

Here's a compressed short of the video from my flight. Actuall raw vid from the camera is quite a bit better.

Looks like you guys had a great weekend and more importantly it is great to see you flying down there again!

Congrats to those who certified and now have International recognition with Tripoli.

It was a pity I couldnt make it down there, but trying to organise myself to get there for the next one. Will keep you up to date!

Keep up the good work!!

Video from my G80 flight, new USB 'lighter' cam.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__OcfPEUcY8

Comments, learnings:
- youtube quality is less than the real thing
- the light conditions were challenging, very bright, but cloud obscuring the sun, lots of big changes in light levels, sky is often saturated
- video sometimes lags behind the sound
- frame rate seems to slow during ascent, probably struggling with compression or download to SD card

I have 2 full HD video cams. 1 does 30fps at full HD, the other 60fps at full HD (progressive). I play them both back on Quicktime and suffer this same problem with both when I record in full 1920x1080 mode. The computers I've played them on just can't literally keep up with data rates required for smooth play. If I export the movies in half size, this issue goes away. Also goes away if I play the videos back into a TV through the actual camera.

NOICE!!

Looks like your editing software and photobucket did a bit better job in terms of resolution than I got from the standard settings on Windows Moviemaker and Youtube!

What software did you use to post-edit your video?

Also interested if you used an 'HC' (high capacity) SD card or just a normal one? The HC ones are faster transfer I think.
Looks like you got similar frame/compression droppage on your flight - like mine there are quite jerky movements if you watch the roads on the ground as the rocket slowly rotates during boost. Probably video compression struggling with a massive change per frame due to high speed of vehicle!

Now all we need is..... A bigger rocket!   Would love to strap this on one going 10K + to get a real birdseye view of Serpentine! (voice in head:... 'must go higher...must go faster...)

The quality is certainly good enough for me to order one. Nice and sharp images for what you pay for.

Yeah, for $15 it's hard to complain about the quality. I just used WMM to trim excess footage and then saved it in the highest quality setting it would let me (quite a bit smaller). I think Photobucket then shrank and converted it again. If anyone in Melb wants the original footage to look at, let me know. (.avi, 166MB)

OK so that would explain it, I saved my WMM output in a lower quality format. I reckon Youtube carved it up a bit more after that too.
