New field?

Postby Wombat Old » Sat Jul 28, 2007 7:58 pm

Guys, while the Wetlands site is fine for the small(ish) and low stuff, I'm wanting to do some mid-power stuff soon. Does anyone know a place that might do for the larger and/or higher stuff?

Serpentine is the obvious answer, but probably not the one you want. :( The two big issues are height waiver and recovery space. What sort of altitudes are you looking at? i.e., mid power doesn't necessarily mean high altitudes.

Dunno.... maybe 1000-1500 ft?

Small can go high too. I guess somewhere large enough that a moderate cross-wind at 100ft doesn't automatically mean swamp, trees or freeway/

Guys
I want to fly my Pit Bull - I worry that it is going to get weighed down by all the dust it is gathering.
We need to get onto finding a site for our MP and HP birds
any ideas?

I'm investigating some sites to fly the really big stuff, but these are a long way out of town. What we need are some intermediate launch sites in the Belgrave-Pakenham-Cranbourne-Frankston arc. Any suggestions? There is some unused industrial land south of Dandenong that may be suitable, the problem would be finding out who to ask.

Lets identify a few sites, talk to the local real estate guys and do some title searches

Hmmm, there's also a shotgun club along there too. I don't fancy having my rockets mistaken for clay pigeons!

Haven't had any luck getting an answer.

Plan B, pending investigation is swinging into place, will advise.

Casey Fields in Cranbourne could also be a goer.

at either (if my 'pute based recon is correct) 500mX500m approx without rocket eating trees.
