Introduction... from Brisbane

Postby snrkl » Fri May 26, 2017 10:24 am

Hey, I am Aidan, new to rocketry this year...

I took the kids out to a QLD Rocketry launch day last year and saw CATO's 1/4scale patriot... It had the desired effect, the bug has bitten!

I have been tinkering with LPR for the last few months, just joined QLD Rocketry today and looking forward to some of my current constructions flying higher than 400ft!

See you in June Adrian.

So more than 400 feet? What's the plan? You'll have to spill the beans I'm afraid, I should be off somewhere else to have a shot at 14k but work is NOT playing nicely

Welcome Aidan and kids!

Welcome to QRS and to the forum. I look forward to seeing some of your rockets at our June launch.

If you get to a stage where you feel like you need some assistance or mentoring at all, feel free to enquire about our 'Blast Off' LPR program, we are happy to help!

Oh and I warn you there are more bugs to bite yet, just wait till you get to see an M, N or O impulse rocket go up

Cheers,
Lachlan.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes..

@cato: sorry, I thought it was a 1/4 scale PAC1 - Don't mind me - I was just taking half your hard work away! ;^)

Plans for this weekend are to fly my 3 latest LPR builds:

A classic big bertha, a scratch built thing kind of inspired by the Saturn V, and a clone of a Pemberton Tech Kraken. (maiden flights for the last two...)

After running sims for possible winds this weekend, I might back off the motor sizes until I can get a Chute Release or something.. The SaturnV inspired rocket on a D motor with 12kmh winds looks like a 325m altitude with a 200m + walk at the end...

I will also be looking to try out my altimeter 3 - with the winds at the local park lately, I wasn't keen to risk losing it to the pine trees / pond trap all the rockets were drifting towards...

Good to see you and your rockets on Sunday. Loved the "Kraken" that was beautifully built and finished. See you again next month????
