English words were spelled as they used to be spoken and science was probably /skyenky/ from " sciens (genitive scientis) "intelligent, skilled," present participle of scire "to know," probably originally "to separate one thing from another, to distinguish," related to scindere "to cut, divide," from Indo European root *skei- "to cut, to split" (source also of Greek skhizein "to split, rend, cleave," Gothic skaidan, Old English sceadan "to divide, separate;".

Maybe the Scythian horse-tribe is from *skei " to flay a skin, peg a skin > a skin" , "to cover" and so Norse skye "clouds". Scythians were in Poland. Saxon sceaxe " knife. sword" may both be * skei. Skua is a roaming bird and skeet flying target is used in shooting . Sky science ?
