Greetings

Postby Aquaman33 » Tue Jul 03, 2018 6:32 pm

Hi,

Just wanted to introduce myself.

I have been messing around with rockets since I was a little kid in the UK. Mostly just Estes and Quest low powered kits, plus a few scratch built efforts.

Got back into rockets in recent years as my kids have taken an interest.

Was a member of NSW Rocketry Association in 2016, and then kid's sport got in the way of attending launches. Will rejoin this year.

I have a big box full of rocket projects. Hoping to finish lots of them this year.

My Level 1 Certification is definitely on the bucket list.

Considering a trip to Thunda Downunder 2019 with the family if the stars align.

That's me for now. Nice to meet you all.

Cheers,

Derek

:D

Welcome to the forum.
No rush on your L1, lots of options available before it’s required. If your kids are anything like mine they tend to prefer lots of smaller flights over one big one (they still love the big ones as well).
Thunda should be a great experience if you can make it.

Many thanks for the welcome.

Building rockets can me quite solitary, so it's fun to find a forum where I can learn and share.

Definitely not in a rush to do my Level 1. I want to get a lot more LPR launches under my belt first and then work my way up.

Where do people buy high power kits in Australia? There don't seem to be many options available online, unless you are prepared to pay postage from the US.

Hi Derek,
It was good to see you back!
Hopefully you'll be a bit more mobile by the time you launch the high power rockets - or is that why you're training your kids?

Welcome to the forum Derek. Lots to learn in LPR and MPR. Progress when you want to to HPR. It is addictive though :)

Haha. You noticed I wasn't very mobile!

Unfortunately I am recovering from a broken hip. But hope to be walking again soon.

Thanks for the welcome Digit.

Australian Rocketry list 74 high power rockets on their site, but only 3 are showing as "in stock".

So I sent them an email inquiry a week ago, but I haven't received a reply.
