Sth Australia and up

Hi All

I'm am new to this, First and only rocket I ever had was way back inthe 1970's and a plastic water filled capsule with fins. Attach a pump and force air in until it could launch. I know pretty much nothing but at the least I will get a few models and have fun no matter what. Be awesome to get to the stage of one large enough to reach space. Just enjoying the fun at the start is all that matters.

Welcome talart. You will find lots of great help and useful info on this forum.

Hi Talart,

Nice to see another South Aussie and welcome to the forum.
I joined this forum 2 months ago and have so far performed 3 launches with a low powered rocket.

Here is a video of my launch using B-6 SCR motors.

I am in the process of constructing 3 more rockets each one slightly more powerful.
I purchased the black and gold rocket kit from Aus Rocketry which includes launch controller, launch pad, and beginner rocket.
You can reuse the launch pad and launch controller for different rockets after you are done with the beginner rocket.

Keep in mind rocketry is both exhilarating and can make your brain hurt. Rocket science has a reputation for a reason because it takes deep thought and precision in assembly. Too many people want to launch a rocket in space without spending time mastering the low power launches. The higher the altitude your rocket goes the more expensive your motor needs to be and you would need to be far more precise in your construction ability. Find yourself a nice beginner kit and learn the basics and hopefully we can do a few launches in the future :)

Welcome to the forum Talart and to the awesome hobby that is rocketry. :D

You'll find a LOT of info here and top guys to help you in your journey.

Make sure to start small and go from there. That is the way to do it and you'll have a "blast", pun intended on a way. 8)

October Sky tries to convince all new comers that rocketry is just a hobby... Don't believe it.
Because after you've spent several hours reading through some of the level 3 builds you will realise it's more than a hobby... It's an illness.
Won't take too long to catch this illness... have fun.

Cloubraker, small correction, clearly you haven't read many of my posts since May, 2007 because I often call it a passion...... :wink: :D

You do realize that the avatar I have here is a photo from my living room......if this would be just a bobby for me I wouldn't have 5 meter, 3.6 meter, 2.7meter, 2.4 meter ( and so on) rockets standing in my living room.... :mrgreen:

Oh mate im sooooooooooo hooked on anything rocketry.. i look at every tube or pipe i see and size them up.. i look at everything now as potential rocket parts. ADDICT

Is that an amraam 2nd from the right? I will have to build something to compare to your oz area 51 8)
