Long time reader, first time poster

Postby RainierWolfcastle » Thu Jul 20, 2017 6:11 pm

Thought it was time to actually post something after a little lurking... Have been interested in rocketry since I was a teen and rec.models.rockets was the place to get information. Flew a little lpr at the time, and now being just a couple of years older decided it would be good to join a club and try out some bigger stuff. Took the kids to the recent Youth Rocketry Challenge which they really enjoyed and I can't thank all those involved enough, it was a very welcoming day and a fantastic opportunity for them to learn both about rocketry and the associated maths and science.

So a little shopping later I've got a LOC Onyx to build with a couple of modifications, a few bottles of west systems from the local fiberglass shop, a freshly soldered eggtimer quantum sitting on my desk and a few engines on their way to send it all skyward at the next WARS launch.ImageImage

Welcome to the forum!

You seem to have a bit to keep you occupied for a little while :)

Ah, a fellow Usenet devotee... That's always a good sign! See you at the next GV launch.

Hello from the other side of the continent 8) A belated welcome to the forum, and well done on your first post!

That's a great kit you've got there and I look forward to seeing some updates on your build.

Thanks, I really enjoyed reading your Nike Smoke/Apache build, some very nice 3d printing and machining!

Thanks you, that 5 motor x wing of yours is a small work of art.

I don't know if I learnt much about rocketry on rmr, but Bob and Jerrys posts were always entertaining. I can't wait, need to get on with it or else I'll have to call my first rocket there "15 shades of grey". ImageImage

Cheers, your reply was much quicker than my first post at least! It's a very nice and simple kit, nothing too complicated to deal with. I look forward to trying out a few f and g size motors in it when it's done and I'll definitely keep the forum updated with its progress.

Thanks, enough primer makes anything look pretty good! A bit of bright orange to make it easy to find, and a couple of CTI 29mm F's (imax and white) to send it upward. Bought the 29mm CTI starter set so can fly rockets like this on F's and G's and fit a baby H in without new hardware if/when I build something to do my L1.
