Australian Rocketry online store facelift

Postby kopius » Thu Feb 28, 2013 1:52 pm

It has been 6 months in the making, but the Australian Rocketry online store is having a major overhaul. There will be significant functionality upgrades and an easier format to look at product information and availability.

We will be migrating the system this coming weekend and Monday and should be operational on Tuesday 05/03/2013.

Please note, that existing orders may not be merged to and tracked on the new site, however if you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

During this time, there may be some small interruptions which we apologise for in advance and trust that you will enjoy the new features.

So close... Having a number of meetings today with both Government and a QRS committee meeting, I have simply run out of time to finalise the last few items on the shop.

Never fear, this should only take a few more hours and then its SHOWTIME!! ;-)

:?: How long is a few hours :?:
MPR cert: Grey Dot on an F52-8T

Level 1 cert: Ok... so maybe I was a little optimistic putting this in. But if I do do it, then it'll be something fast.

Today marks the dawn of a new era! Check out the new Australian Rocketry online store site today http://www.ausrocketry.com.au

There is still plenty of work going on behind the scenes and some products require further information/picture updates, however please do not hesitate to contact us with feedback on the new site.

Outstanding Blake. Love how you are providing motor specs and thrust curve data for each reload!

You just may have set the standard for all other rocketry sites (worldwide).... I really can't think of one better.

I just might have to buy something .... :)

Thanks Mike!

It has taken a long time to input the data and this is still ongoing, however the idea is to offer as much information as possible so there everything is viewable in the one place. I am writing some more instructions too, however FYI, at the bottom of each product in a category, there is an 'add to compare' button. You can select up to five (5) items and then compare the data. I have found this feature to work really well when looking at different motors to use.

I have supplied people all over the world, so it would be my pleasure to look after your rocketry needs ;-)

p.s. I don't currently list cherry ripes, so you may have to get something else for the time being.

The new website looks amazing. The range of motors (which is the only area I've really looked at) is spectacular.

I'm feeling financially challenged already.

Looking good - really nice to see the CTI stuff up! Woohoo. Love the added descriptions.

Hooray, descriptions and measurements on tailcones and centring rings! *high five*

A few notes though, I'm sure these are in your todo list already, however:
* My retinas complain loudly at red on blue. Could we have white on blue or something instead? (drop down menus, paging)
* Seeing there is another page of goodies is kinda hard, and there is no way to get to the next/prev page from the bottom of the screen. I have 30" 2560x1600 screens, and I can't see the top of the page when i'm at the bottom. People on 1080/1200 high screens have no chance. Can you add a next/prev button to the bottom of the list of products, and a page count? This one is really important IMO.
* Related products/required products... When looking at this (randomly selected) it has "If you choose to purchase the 1/4 Patriot with a 38mm MMT, for 29mm motors, purchase the optional 38-29mm adapter." - It would be really great to have that linked, or at least shown in a "you may need this to complete" box at the bottom. Same goes for glues, any hardware required, rail buttons, chutes, etc. If I don't know I need to buy it, you're not going to be able to take my money are you? Please take my money!
* LOVE! The "Care and Feeding of Blue Tube"! Can you link the couplers though from the airframe tubes? Customers are lazy... we dont want to have to go look for stuff :P
* Using opera, I can't navigate to a sub menu that goes out of the webpage block... eg: CTI -> 54mm. Once i pass the boundary of the store content the menu vanishes.
* Still need lots of pictures.. eg: CTI motors category
* CTI 54mm starter kit doesn't have any details on whats inside: http://ausrocketry.com.au/motor-hardwar ... r-kit.html
* Same for the other CTI starter kits :(
* Avionics Bays/Payloads has exactly one category inside it... Can the items not be moved up from BlueTube into the Avionics Bays/Payloads cat? http://ausrocketry.com.au/avionics-bays-payloads.html
* There are too many nice things I can't afford :(
