Has the size limit for attachments changed on the forum?

I am trying to attach a jpg with a size of 411kB and the forum software is complaining the size is too large. The limit used to be 500kB per image. Has this limit been reduced or am I seeing some other bug? If it has been reduced what is the new limit please?
