Smallest data logger??

G'day,

Hope everyone had great festive season.

I appear to have reached the G limit (23g) of the little Jolly logic altimeter 2 which results in scrubbing any useable data from the g sensing side ie. speed up and down, apogee eject etc.

I am using a 24mm dia. body so cannot incline the Jolly Logic to take advantage of its higher G range when inclined and using an average of all 3 of its 3 axis imu's, I'm stuck with using just the one vertical axis sensor.

Searching the web I can't seem to find a data logger which records the same data as a altimeter 2 and is of similar small size and can cope with ~ 50g.

Anybody able to offer any help or thoughts?

It’s pretty hard to beat a Raven 3 for size and functionality. A very good investment IMO.

If you're just looking for accurate apogee data you might want to look into AltusMetrum's MicroPeak.

FYI, it's a baro only altimeter so there's no accelerometer but realistically a baro sensor will on average produce more accurate apogee data when compared to an accelerometer. It also requires the MicroPeakUSB to download data and they appear out of stock.

It's certainly tiny though.

The AltimeterTwo web site states the following...

Maximum of 40 gees (careful mounting)

Have you investigated that avenue? It seems like you should still be able to get data up to 40 G with the unit, at least according to the manufacturer.

Ravens immediately sprung to my mind. Great little units. They are good to 70G.

They used to do a 250G unit but to get that functionality nowadays you need to change out the accelerometer device for the higher accel unit (but get reduced resolution as a tradeoff). I am in the process of doing that currently.
