Service delays

Postby Bones » Tue Jun 21, 2011 8:34 pm

Late Saturday night my wife had a baby - a little girl weighing 3 pounds who came into the world 2 months earlier than full term. Mum and baby are doing well.

At the moment I am running a bit of a three-ring circus between looking after our two young kids, keeping up with full time employment, running Suburban Rocketry and visiting the wife and bub on the weekends who are currently at Newcastle hospital some 250km's away.

I intend to keep the store open (damn, I have an extra mouth to feed now!), but it will be tough to do next day shipping for awhile which has become pretty much the norm. At the moment I am snowed under and way behind in deliveries due to the floods that isolated us last week and then the unexpected on Saturday night - but hoping to clear the back-log over the next few nights. From there on in I hope to stay on top of things but more than likely I will only ship once or twice a week (Annette normally does the daily post office run while I am at work). The plan at this stage is to ship early week and late week so any given order shouldn't be delayed by more than a few days.

Wife and bub currently need some special care and will be away for awhile, possibly 1-2 months. Patience during this time appreciated but I will be making every effort to keep all the wheels turning and at least give the illusion that things are under control.

Cheers!
Darren

I'll also add my congratulations Bones. My thoughts are with your wife and bub, and I hope their home soon.
...Was it meant to do that?

Hi Darren,

congratulations on number 3! Great to hear they are both ok, hope she gets to come home soon. I know we get hung up on rockets a bit (ok, A LOT...) but these moment remind us about what's really important in life.

I'm sure your customers will understand any delays under the circumstances!

On the topic of control, it's definitely an illusion when your 3 kids get a bit older... (well that's my experience anyway)

Take it easy as you can and enjoy the journey!!

cheers,

Tom

Hi Bones! just catching up on the forum after a house move and found your news! Congratulations!!! That's great news, and you sure sound like you have your work cut out!

3 pounds is tiny, but it's amazing how quickly they grow...

Cheers,

Thanks for the warm wishes guys. My wife has now returned home and daughter (named Violet), has been flown back to Port Macquarie hospital which is now only 20 minutes away. This makes it a lot easier for everyone.

While things aren't quite back to normal I am pretty confident orders will now be processed within the usual time span.
