Weather conditions for the scheduled Sunday 31st August launch are not looking to favourable at present, and it is being considered if this launch may be better re-scheduled to Saturday 6th September in an effort to attain better conditions.

The change of DAY from Sunday to Saturday is to avoid conflict with Fathers Day.

We are awaiting member feedback prior to making a call.

A decision has been made!

Due to conditions becoming slightly more favourable, the launch will be held on the original scheduled date being Sunday 31st August.

The NOTAM request has been submitted and is pending issue.

Nice day, a little cloudy but no wind to speak of.
Unfortunately only a few diehard members were able to make it out to the Valley and there were not many photos taken either.

Here are a couple of mine.
I flew a couple of "Golden Oldies" on motor ejection and finely tuned delay elements.

I dragged out the highly modified Loc Precision "Norad Pro Maxx Plus" which was designed to fly primarily on any of the CTI Pro 38 range of motors. I stayed true to the design intent and popped in a CTI Pro 38 5 grain J285 Classic which comes with 15 second adjustable delay ...... I decided to trim .... well nothing off and let her rip!

Flawless flight to a shade over 4,000 ft and the delay chucked the laundry out just after apogee and landed around 500 metres away from the pad.

Luckily I had a Big Red Bee 900 mHz GPS tracker stuffed neatly inside because even though it landed within visible range, the good rains we have had lately have made the Lupins crop quite thick. You could easily walk past your rocket in the thigh high crop and miss it. The tracker lead us directly to it for an easy recovery.

Then I pulled out an old favourite, the venerable Talon 2, a rocket that screams sexy!

"Talon 2!
Yer... I got one!"

The old girl went up on an Aerotech H180W with a medium delay ..... adjusted to .... medium!
Once again a flawless flight hitting an altitude of around 2,500 ft and the chute coming out moments after apogee to land some 25 metres from the prep area. ............ Cool! 8) 8) 8)

As Dave mentioned, yesterday was quite still but somewhat cloudy. And while we didn't have many flights we made up for it by only flying High Power motors. Anyway, on to the photos!

I started the day with my carbon fibre AMRAAM 2.1 on a I300. Great flight, boost was straight as an arrow.

Next up Dave flew his Norad Pro Maxx Plus

Joe flew his Darkstar Jr. on a CTI I.

Next up I flew my AMRAAM on a J350. The motor chuffed for quite some time on the pad before finally deciding to get to work!

And then Dave finished the day with his Talon 2.

And as Dave mentioned the Lupins crop is very healthy. Every flight on the day utilised BRB trackers or 900Mhz GPS. It's all too easy to get sucked into the Lupins vortex and wander for ages looking for your rocket. That said, sometimes luck prevails, as Dave demonstrated with his Talon 2 flight on the day.

Well, that's pretty close.

Thankfully Dave was flying with GPS tracking!
