Just a reminder to the rocketry fraternity that the first launch of the WARS 2018 season will be held on Sunday 29th April.
The local weather forecast is looking pretty spectacular, and will be conducive to launching rockets.

Some of the WARS committee made the trek out to the Grass Valley site today to undertake a bit of housekeeping & early setup.

If you are not a member or not on the WARS email distribution list and would like to know more, please indicate your interest by way of email to the following address.

Big day and a great opener despite some serious early winds. I snapped a few shots over the day, I hope you enjoy.

Great shots Drew.

Was a very enjoyable season opener, despite the wind.

Many thanks to Mel, Dave, Jodie, Drew, Michelle and Joe for all the site prep and hard work getting things ready for the rest of us.
One of these days we'll get there at a respectable hour to lend a hand!

Edit: Oh, and my 2018 tally thus far: 3 flights and 19.8Ns bahaha
Actually, that's Jack's tally, mine is still 0.0!

We have a fair amount of children that come to launches these days. You want to know the best way to keep your nearly 4 year old off the flight line? Build him a swing set.

Mine usually find a mud pit  Is it permanent or someone has to set it up each time?

Yeah, Drew ain't setting that up every time!
We need to find a way to pin it down. Get 6 kids all on an up swing at the same time and it starts to tip.

Getting a good workout then. Some have holes in the legs for pegging it to the ground. If not then drill your own. Obviously not your standard tent peg you want something pretty hefty and long.

Pegs are in the shed. After nearly 4 hours of assembling that thing last Wednesday I walked away without pegging it down.

Zackry...
These do have the holes and pegs as Drew said, but you're right, need something a bit more hefty mainly because it's loose sand out there.
The chances of it toppling over are next to nil, but I did see a leg or two shifting on Sunday.

Don't blame ya!
I had to hitch the trailer Monday morning to pick a set up for Jack's birthday, got home and dumped the boxes for Bec and 'Grandpa' to play with.
I went to work, whistling.

Look you just have to pretend all those poles are actually body tubes, then it’s much more exciting putting it together
