It is never good to see someone injured or worse due to rocketry. :(

This is why rocketry clubs have stringent safety rules which must be adhered to... and why everyone should join a club.

A terrible accident.

I read the news whilst enjoying new year’s eve with my family.....and my heart sank.

Stay safe everyone and fly with a club.

That’s why we don’t make our own motors, launch pad distances are critical, motors are not stored assembled and igniter only installed on the pad. Also helps that AP doesn’t easily ignite.
QRS: 124
Highest Altitude: 13,647 feet
Fastest Flight: Mach 1.55
Largest Motor: CTI 1115J530 IM
Current Project: X Wing

We drove past the house where this happened about an hour afterwards (it was close to where we live on a busy road) and thought there had been a homicide. The number of police and firies in attendance was huge! The police has their forensic truck, I presume to work out what the guy had been mixing together.

Very unfortunate for the guy involved. But, this is why we join clubs, share knowledge, let the people who understand the chemistry and dangers make rocket motors etc.
