As part of the certification process you must build your L3 motor when you attempt your L3 Cert.

Yes, of course.

I apologise for not being clear. What I mean is if I receive my license and it says L1 & L2 motors, will I be acting within the law/regulations/my license conditions by building an L3 motor for certification? I'm assuming you're saying that like L1 & L2, you have to build the motor to be assessed at that level? Sorry to labour the point. I just want to make sure I'm doing the right thing and I don't want to leave things until the last minute.

Yes. As long as the motor is being built in the preparation area for your next certification level flight.

This is the normal certification process where you can posses, assemble and use the motor under supervision.

This process also allows the Level 1 and Level 2 certifications to be conducted at the same launch.

Just received my updated "Queensland Licence to Use Explosives" card, they have removed the wording "Restricted to Rocket Motors Levels 1, 2 & 3 including types H, I, J, etc......".

Very well done QLD Dept of Natural Resources and Mines...

Remember that when you receive your updated licence that you are required to return the old 'non valid' licence card to the Explosives Inspectorate.

I've been slack and only submitted my paperwork a couple of weeks ago. Spoke to them there and it's all good, but I forgot to get the the copy of my driver's license certified.. Sent it off today. They sent me a payment receipt, so I'm pretty sure everything is hunky dory.

Makes a fun job of putting it back together to verify it is the card that is to be returned.
Just send it back in one piece so that a photocopy can be put on file. It then gets cut up.

Looking at getting my license renewed. Notice that it says we should give them a copy of our log books. I've looked around and cannot see exactly what details they want us to log. Anyone know what the requirements are?

The easiest way to keep a log of you flights is by purchasing one our log books: http://ausrocketry.com.au/media-apparel ... -book.html

They are seeking evidence that you actually require the license, so most of the details you would put on the flight card eg. Date, location, rocket, motor, specs, results etc.

My license arrived last week. No "L1/L2" limit. Looks like the new process has kicked in. Thanks for the handy guide, Bruce.
