That was awesome! Anybody seen/heard if the centre core landed successfully?

Bye,
Mike

I have to say that the morning was off to a great start today 8) . What a terrific flight! There are a lot of happy and relieved engineers at SpaceX now :)

Still no news on the 3rd booster.

Now we wait for the final burn to inject into the final heliocentric orbit. It is in an experimental long-duration coast currently. This should happen early this afternoon.

Yeeehhaaaa. That was spectacular. :D
I heard someone mention on a live stream that they had overheard the announcer say that the central core was lost at one point. But can't confirm. I suspect that is the case because we would have heard otherwise that it was sucessful. Still there is a Tesla floating up there .... I just have one question ... what is in the glove box???

Yea, got this from a mate...

Centre core did not re-ignite completely due to lack of propellant, hit the water at 300mph and blew up two of the drone ship engines. Elon says they've got 'some pretty fun footage'.

Looking forward to that footage!

Unfortunately it seems that Drew has got it right.

Here's an article on the Aljazeera website.

Fingers crossed that they captured some vision of the centre core landing:

"If we got the footage ... that sounds like some pretty fun footage if the cameras didn't get blown up as well, then we'll put that up ... for - you know - just the blooper reel," Musk added.

Bye,
Mike

Great launch, it’s now heading most of the way out to the asteroid belt.

Need to see if I can watch the post launch news conference.

Apparently lots of debris from the water landing, drone ship has a couple of motor out.

Also faring recovery has proven difficult, probably 6 months before we see that.

Amazing (too short) inspirational video of the Falcon Heavy launch, including never before seen centre core crashing on 'landing'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0FZIwabctw

When Falcon Heavy lifted off, it became the most powerful operational rocket in the world by a factor of two. With the ability to lift into orbit nearly 64 metric tons (141,000 lb)---a mass greater than a 737 jetliner loaded with passengers, crew, luggage and fuel--Falcon Heavy can lift more than twice the payload of the next closest operational vehicle, the Delta IV Heavy, at one-third the cost.
