Current LPR designs in the pipe...

Postby snrkl » Thu Aug 31, 2017 7:54 pm

Working on a rebuild of my BT60 two stage Blu Fyr:

Booster remake and repairing a popped sustainer fin.. Hoping to have it ready by next weekend for the QRS launch:

Working on a Birthday candle rocket - we have a birthday girl next launch.. Hoping to bring it down on a 6m rainbow streamer but I am thinking it might be a little heavy... Maybe if I can figure out how to get TWO 6m rainbow streamers out of it without horrible tangles...

Also starting to think about a scratch built version of a MIRV.. BT60 booster on a d12- gap staging to 4 separate 24mm sustainers with18mm BP motors:
Sustainers would be dual fin, and use oblique nose cones and come down on streamers -

Some interesting projects you've got planned. Will watch with interest.

Latest iteration on the MIRV concept...

The design would call for two hand made 4:1 shroud transitions - one inside for the D12-A83 gap staging, the other for the top of the booster manifold where it meets the sustainers...

I haven't gone beyond concept stage with the MIRV, but I've been working through my build pile.

I have spent some time on my week off with the kids working through a few cluster kits I've been holding back.

I have a BT60 scratch build with the apogee strap on boosters.

I'm calling it STRAPPED...

Image

Primary construction will be finished tonight and tomorrow it heads to the paint pile.

It will fly on the 15th if I can find someone with C6-0 BP motors to load in the booster... (at this stage, I'll take any 18mm -0s I can find!) Blake seems to be out and so is the local hobbyrama...

I've also built a dual 18mm rear eject from US Rockets.

Slightly modified by converting the top 15cm into an eBay to hold the Altimeter3.

It got its final coat of matt black today.

I'm wondering if I should embellish it with some hand drawn SR71 style details using a fine white paint pen, but I'll probably just fly it stealth...

Construction is mostly complete.

Recovery hardware and nose cone plastic rivets still to drill and install.

Saturday next week will be busy getting this and my aspire finished.
