Simulation of external protuberances

Postby strud » Thu Jun 06, 2019 10:40 pm

I'm working on design and sim of a new series of 4" rockets using a design where the hybrid motor is a structural element.

There will be a number of fasteners with their heads either in the air stream OR countersunk screws with the drive feature in the air stream.

Anyone have suggestions on the best way to simulate these in say OpenRocket or similar packages?

You can put a piece of airframe that is almost non existent in the sim and it will trick it to think there is booster to attach fins etc. to. I can send you a sim where we have done exactly that and you can just modify it as required.
