Blake, can you please take detail snaps of the spin stabilisers on the trailing edge? Specifically what the wheel is made of etc...

So after wanting to do a number of scale projects, the inspiration has come to make a 1:1 scale AIM9 L/M Sidewinder.

Some interesting info:
* Sidewinder is the common name of Crotalus Cerastes, a venomous rattlesnake which uses infrared sensory organs to hunt warm blooded prey.
* Sidewinders are the most successful short range air-to-air missiles

Back in 2011, Scoop and I were fortunate to hop on board the USS Midway in San Diego, which in short, was absolutely amazing! Plenty of research for accuracy in detail commenced with a series of photos as per below. I am looking forward to working on this build thread :-)

As kids we used to see the snake "tracks" often in the nearby sand dunes. The Namibian Sidewinder is a bit different from the one you mention, Blake, but no doubt related...

The strange sidewinder gait is so that they can go across the scorching desert sand without ending up dead from overheating. Only part of their body is in contact with the ground at any one time. Very distinctive tracks. Very clever!

 My hand is very up Cato! haha.

Any updates on this project Kopius? I was thinking of having a full scale aim9 as my L2 or 3 project when I've progressed that far. Would love to see how yours is going.
Cheers

 I didn't realise you were trying to 1:1 the motor as well! The real deal has an impulse of 39,144 with a 2.2 second burn time*, you're not far off (don't know your burn time) and I'm guessing yours will weigh less than 85kg. Reckon you'll get the 35km Max range? That's just 5,000ft shy of the ceiling at Thunda 18, do it! lol.

This won't be, "Go baby go"

More like, "Where the hell did ya go baby" last saw you sitting on the pad and then you left in a big hurry.
