What's the challenge in 2011?

Hi Kryten,

The challenges are all set and the final touches are being put onto the official documentation. I anticipate this to be released next week and sent to all relevant parties.

Hi Blake,
It sounds great! Email hasn't filtered down to me yet but I just read the rules and Beaudesert will certainly be entering. We will also have a crack at the highschool egg lofting competition. We were wondering what else we could do with the eggs our school chooks lay besides giving them to our tuckshop.

cheers
Glen

Hi Glen and John,

Just wanted to thank you for your support and this years contest will be very exciting with the bigger challenge for the High Schools ( which is open for Primary Schools also).

Talking with Blake just a day ago and registrations should be open very soon. :)

There is not any limit on what motor/s you can use, however the aim is to fly to certain criteria eg. 750feet and be airborne for 40-45seconds. 4 x E9 motors has a lot of power and will most likely take your rocket far beyond the specified altitude. In saying that, depending on how you design your rocket will also be a factor on what and how many motors you will require.

Just to clarify, at the fly off, eggs will be supplied to teams. There is no need to bring an egg, however when working on your rocket design, please remember it is a raw hen's egg of 57 to 63 grams weight and no more than 45 millimeters in diameter.

There is less than 2 weeks to this years challenge and we have had many great questions coming in via email and phone. Some teams are coming to the next QRS launch to test fly their vehicles which I am really excited to see.

If anyone is having any issues or needs some pointers, make sure you contact the AYRC team: info@rocketcontest.org.au

Whats on display in the foyer of every school, the trophy cabinet - these will look great.

The high school kids have a bit of a challenge ahead of them, an egg (non boiled), launched to as near to 750 feet as possible (measured by an altimeter), landed succsesfully (not broken) in a rocket of their design - this would test all of us.

Based on the sheer enthusiam the AYRC launch generated last year, I am really looking forward to seeing what the students come up with for this years contest. I understand we have a few Students coming to the launch this Sunday to trial their configuration.

This really sounds like a worthwhile endeavor and good fun to boot. For all the young rocketeers coming to the launch this Sunday, good luck and please feel free to ask anyone for a hand if you need one - happy to help!
