Level 2 build

Postby markf74 » Wed Feb 17, 2021 5:58 pm

Just in the middle of testing my loc 835 with a newly installed RRC3 altimeter. Took me 5 attempts but I think I got the correct weight for the main chute deploy 1.8grams of black powder. Testing is fun buy so looking forward to next Sunday. Image

I'm thinking about using the J250W 54mm and open rocket thinks the altitude will be about 940m with a Max vel Mach 0.53. Re tracker , I will have to wait till next launch , the bank was closed after she saw how much I spent last week.... sigh. I am relying on the dual deploy to not repeat the spitfire event .

I also converted the aerial to have a an ebay and will be doing something similar but with a 38mm motor maybe the J425R if it the motor mount I have is long enough . I built it with the pml interchangeable motor size kit . So will wait and see.

Just double checked , the ariel would go 1360m on that motornand according to open rocket it fits. Again that will have no tracker but be dual deploy. Maybe I can borrow a tracker.....

Yeah, the weather forecast would suggest that at best we will have cloud cover and maybe worse. I had to convert 1360m to feet and 4600ft is likely to be out of site.

I’m also considering J motors for a couple of rockets for the weekend, but the weather will def play a role in the decision and also wether my adapter arrives from overseas as Blake is a bit light on 54mm options.

Good point, if that's the case I will drop the motor for the ariel to something more manageable just to give the dual deploy a work out

I’ve finished a 3 inch Mac Performance Firestick XL (54mm). But I wanna fly it on a 38mm motor for its first flight and have been waiting to hear back from Blake about 54/38 adapters. I finally gave up and ordered from Wildman, but not sure it will arrive in time.

I’ve got a 54mm Wildman Punisher sport clone I made over Xmas that didn’t get launched last month as I literally couldn’t get on a rail. I’m bringing down my own this time.

Also a couple of low power fiberglass rockets I cloned from the Mach1 rocketry website when I worked out a mandrel for BT55 fibreglass.

Thanks for the offer, but I’m uncertain if it will work. The rocket has a glass boat tail with a slimline retainer and snap ring closure. I understand the only one that will work is an aero pack one as it needs the longitudinal support. However, I may as well bring the rocket with me and see if it’s likely to fit.

For the Harm adapter the motor mount tube needs to be a bit longer than the motor (unless the tube has its own adapter such as PML kwikswitch), but yeah don’t know about using the HARM retainer rings adapter with a slimline retainer.

Hopefully someone else will have something if mine is not suitable.
